RECREATIONAL and elite runners alike are invited to take part in the 2014 Lake Macquarie Fernleigh15.
Staged by Athletics NSW, the 15-kilometre event will take place on Saturday, October 19, on the Fernleigh Track, starting at Adamstown and finishing at the old Belmont Station.
The race is also open to wheelchair athletes, with the event drawing some of the biggest names in Australian wheelchair road racing, such as Paralympian champion and two-time Fernleigh15 winner Kurt Fearnley.
The track will be closed to all other traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians, for the event. There will be water stops, first aid stations and accurate timing.
Participants can enter one of five categories: Open (14-34 years), 35-44 years, 45-54 years, wheelies, 55+ masters and walkers.
There is also a team event; teams of any size can be formed with the top eight finishers receiving points.
