FIVE girls from Lake Macquarie have thrown their support behind Ronald McDonald House Newcastle, organising their own front yard fundraiser.

Sienna Eve, Olivia Eve, Madeline Mitchell, Amelia Scully and Mia-Rose Sciaria D'Andrea wrote to their neighbours in Tingira Heights informing them of their upcoming lolly and cake stall held over the long weekend.
The five Macquarie College students managed to raise more than $300.
Kim Eve, mother to Sienna and Olivia, said the day was filled with smiles all around.
"They wrote a beautiful letter and dropped it in neighbours' letter boxes," Ms Eve said.
"It was so gratifying to watch people take time out of their lives to support the girls and their charity.
"It was amazing to watch the kindness displayed from the community. People really do care. [I'm] so glad that children these days appreciate what they have and seek to help others who aren't as lucky."
Ms Eve said her girls were familiar with the good work carried out by Ronald McDonald House, as Sienna was sick as a baby and was admitted to the John Hunter Hospital.
Friends of the family also recently had a baby sick in hospital.
Ronald McDonald House runs a number of programs to help seriously ill children and their families, including learning programs, family room retreats, scholarship programs and family accommodation.
"When I came home from work and heard about their plans it melted me," Ms Eve said.
"We had so many people drive past and donate money - I was surprised how quickly word spread."
The girls will visit Ronald McDonald House in the July school holidays to drop off the money raised and take a tour of the local facilities.
