Virtually since he could walk the Whitebridge whiz kid showed a natural affinity with the bike.
“He was about two and riding around the yard without training wheels,” Miller’s dad Nathan said.
“So I started taking him and his brother Archie, who is 17 months older, to the skate park then they progressed from there to the BMX track.
“I said one day, ‘How about I take you over to a race track and you can have a ride around’. It only took a couple of races to get the hang of it.”
That was three years ago at the Lake Macquarie BMX Club at Argenton.
This year Miller entered the competition scene.
He was second in his age class, nine-years boys, at the Australian titles at Bathurst in March.
Miller blitzed the field at the ACT titles in May then recorded a clean sweep of the six-round NSW series.
He capped a sensational first year of competition by capturing the state crown at the NSW BMX Championships held in Sydney on October 1 and 2.
It was one a number of wins for the Lake Macquarie BMX Club.
Chris Ferguson took out the 30-34 years men’s division and Matt Fairbairn (40-45 cruiser men), Reid Clough (17-24 men) and Stephen Upton (50+ cruiser men) were also victorious.
Miller trains twice a week at the track but spends the majority of his training time at the local netball courts working on his starts as a dynamic start is crucial to the explosive BMX racing.
Miller made no mistake in the state final, getting out to a good start and holding the lead to secure the No.1 plate from a fast-finishing Ashton Pace from Macarthur Bmx Club.
Next on the agenda is the Victorian state titles in Shepparton next month then Miller could be making his first appearance on the international stage.
His family are considering taking him to the world titles in Rock Hill, South Carolina in the United States next July.
