Rachel Prest hopes members of the community will be inspired to think more about where their clothes have come from when the Eco-Chic Fashion Pop-Up returns to Foghorn Brewhouse on April 30.
Prest, who brought the Raid My Wardrobe phenomenon to Newcastle, wanted to share her passion in recycled and sustainable fashion as well as showcase some of the area’s talented eco and ethical fashion designers.
The pop-up night will feature a small fashion show, several stalls of men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, plus plenty of live entertainment.
“It’s basically letting people know that upcycling and eco isn’t just handmade at all; that it’s actually very stylish and chic,” Prest said.
“It’s also respecting work of the people that have made the clothes and asking, ‘Who made your clothes?’, and getting people to be more mindful of their purchases and … the impact that the making of their clothes is having on the environment or on the community where the clothes are made.”
