Bill Slicer, Tighes Hill
IN my opinion it is now almost impossible to park your car and shop at Marketown because of all the non-paying workers and university people parking all day. The shops are close to empty during the week. I can go elsewhere, and now do so, but locals may have to find somewhere else.
John Hollingsworth, Hamilton
The judgements of Chief Justice Peter Kidd leave no room for Cardinal George Pell to continue in any office. His unfitness for office is beyond reasonable doubt. What he did to the choirboys was compounded by his "staggering arrogance" and his "callous indifference" to the distress that he had inflicted. His grave abuse of trust and power was psychopathic. I believe his resignation would be in the interest of everybody including himself.
Mark Porter, New Lambton
I AM one of the one million plus voices calling for Senator Anning to be removed from parliament. But my call does not go far enough. Not only should he be removed, but all the benefits accruing to him for his role as a senator must be withdrawn immediately as well. Unless this happens he will only be flogged with a feather.
Brian Roach, Whitebridge
THE Daily Telegraph and Prime Minister Scott Morrison both condemn Fraser Annings remarks, and then blame social media for the attack. Not themselves, who actively fan hate speech. They take hypocrisy to a new low.
Niko Leka, Mayfield
NO-ONE debates the effect on the economy of the millions taken by executives of big companies. For the sake of fairness, why doesn't the Fair Work Commission review the top salary scale as well as the lower salary level? If the top end was trimmed it would be easier to pay the bottom end.
John McLennan, Charlestown
HOW come former PM John Howard is on TV claiming the firearm safeguards could be watered down if Labor wins this coming state election on Saturday (SMH 18/3)? I did not see Mr Howard on TV when the Liberals in Tasmania had done a secret deal with the gun lobby to water down the legislation within that state. I ask Mr Howard, how many times did the NSW Coalition government rely on support or votes from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers?
Robert Bowne, Marks Point
IT takes a special kind of conceited arrogance not to accept the scientific fact of climate change. Thank heavens the youth of today have not swallowed the lies from the climate deniers. Well done.
Mac Maguire, Charlestown
PLEASE help school students to fight climate change: no mobile phones, computers, cooked or reheated school canteen foods, no TV, no Xbox, no new clothes, no new shoes, no hair cuts, no public transport, no lifts to school. They will just have to walk.
