The Newcastle Jets talisman will be among a number Australian based and fringe players to be given an opportunity by coach Graham Arnold in the match to be played in Busan on June 7.
"Our World Cup qualifiers start in September and it's a last chance for us to explore what else there is out there," Arnold said when the match was announced earlier this month
Petratos was overlooked for the Asian Cup in January and hasn't been involved in the national team set-up since Arnold took the reins after the World Cup.
The 26-year-old made his Socceroos debut in a friendly against Norway in March 2018 and also featured in a nil-all draw with Colombia.
Petratos earned his national team spot after a sensational 2017-18 A-League season with the Jets, inspiring them to a second-placed finish and grand final appearance.
Although not having the same impact this season, Petratos was the Jets' most dangerous player.
He scored six goals to go with five assists and led the league in attempted shots (99) and shot assists (72).
The Jets failed to make the A-League finals and Petratos hasn't played a game since scoring a goal in a 2-0 win over Sydney FC on April 27.
Arnold has indicated he will rest a number of senior players, who are coming off a long European season.
