The Jets went into the round-11 match, played in searing heat, having beaten Perth in round four and were mathematically still a chance of making finals, albeit an extremely slim one.
But now they find themselves fighting off the wooden spoon with three games remaining.
Perth, winless before last night, improved to five points and seventh spot, one point ahead of the Jets.
The visitors led 2-0 at the break after Hana Lowry scored a free header into the top right corner off a corner in the 22nd minute. Morgan Andrews converted from the penalty spot in first-half injury time after Crystal Thomas was deemed to have been brought down in the box by Jets defender Tessa Tamplin.
The third goal came in the 65th when Andrews' long-range shot hit the crossbar and Caitlin Doeglas scored from close range off the rebound.
Tamplin got one back for the hosts with a long-range effort in the 75th before Celia Jimenez scored from outside the box in the 78th.
Lauren Allan, in her starting debut, scored into the top of the net from an acute angle for her first W-League goal in the 83rd minute.
The Jets signed the 23-year-old striker out of Herald Women's Premier League, where she combined with Jets teammate for 81 goals in New Lambton colours, and she has played in every match this season.
Newcastle went into the match without regular starters Libby Copus-Brown (suspended) and Nicki Flannery (injury). Teigan Collister also returned to the starting line-up and Sophie Nenadovic came off the bench in the second half for her first appearance this season.
Newcastle 16-year-old Ruby Jones, who is an Australian under-16 representative and will play for New Lambton this WPL, sat on Glory's bench as an injury replacement for goalkeeper Eliza Campbell.
The Jets are back at McDonald Jones Stadium on February 1 to host last-placed Adelaide. The Reds have registered just one point this season but could draw level with the Jets if they cause an upset over second-placed Western Sydney on Saturday night.
