A MOTORBIKE rider has died in a collision at Wollombi on Saturday.

About 10.50am emergency services were called to the Great North Road to reports a motorcyclist and Kia sedan had collided.
The rider, a 52-year-old man, was treated by paramedics at the scene but was unable to be saved.
According to the Cessnock District Rescue Squad the motorcyclist had gone over an embankment during the crash.
"When our volunteers arrived on scene medical personnel were treating the [man] but despite their best efforts, unfortunately the rider succumbed to their injuries," a statement from the squad said.
"Our team remained on scene for a short while offering what assistance we could before returning to back to base."
The sedan driver, a 74-year-old man was taken to Cessnock Hospital for mandatory blood and alcohol testing.
Officers from Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the cause of the crash.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
