Phoenix had two handball calls go against them when they met the Eagles in round seven, one leading to a penalty for Edgeworth and the other decision not granting Valentine a dot-shot.
On Saturday in round 10 at Jack McLaughlan Oval, Valentine had a handball call against Edgeworth skipper Josh Evans in the sixth minute turned down.
Valentine's Chris Brown then scored with a header at a corner in the 62nd minute only to be ruled offside.
As in round seven, Edgeworth capitalised, scoring in the 71st minute and in injury-time for 2-0 again.
Valentine player-coach Adam Hughes said the decisions could have gone either way.
Hughes welcomed the bye this week as his side prepared for a finishing run against Adamstown, Maitland and Olympic. They will likely need to win every game to make the finals.
"We've got a few niggling injuries in the squad so we need to have a week off to get right and try to get bodies back on the park for the following week," he said.
Luke Willard may not be back after aggravating a hamstring injury in his return.
Eagles player-coach Josh Rose said his side "might have got a bit lucky" with the offside call. The win came after their perfect run was ended 3-1 by Jaffas.
"It was good to get back to winning ways but it wasn't as smooth as we wanted it to be," Rose said
"Valo are a tough unit and hard to break down. They did quite well to work their way into the game and keep it tight."
Keanu Moore (groin) missed the game but Rose hoped he would be back in the next two weeks. The Eagles are five points clear of second-placed Broadmeadow with three games each to play and within reach of a record 13th NNSW top-division premiership.
"We've got two tough games coming up, Olympic away and Maitland away, which will be good for us," Rose said.
"We want to head into the semis in good form and we could meet these guys there, so we want to get a leg up and get the result."
Kristian Brymora scored the second goal for the Eagles against Valentine to go to eight for the season and stay one ahead of James Virgili (Broadmeadow), Braedyn Crowley (Maitland) and Kale Bradbery (Jaffas) in the golden boot race.
"I'm really happy for him," Rose said.
"He works really hard and he's got big ambitions to still try to do a lot in the game, and he's a good young kid.
"I hope he can get a couple more for us over the next few weeks."
