The five-year-old mare, ridden by Aaron Bullock and part-owned by Australian Bloodstock, finished 1.82 lengths in front of runner-up Buffy with Rexx third.
It had been almost 12 months since Think Free last saluted and she paid $4.60 on the TAB tote.
She was third and three wide at the top of the straight before moving clear in the closing stages.
Lees' other chance, Juventus, finished fifth in the Wauchope Cup.
Earlier at the same meeting, Lees and Australian Bloodstock combined to take out a 1000m maiden with favourite Asherla.
Dylan Gibbons was the jockey, marking the second of three victories for the Maitland apprentice at Kempsey on Sunday. He also had success with Barry's Lane and Pipe Dreams.
